  What is the inburgeringsexamen?

  The inburgeringsexamen is the Dutch civic-integration exam, run by DUO. For most non-EU residents in the Netherlands, passing it is a step toward a stronger residence permit and toward Dutch citizenship. It covers reading, listening, writing, and speaking in Dutch, plus civics — KNM (Knowledge of Dutch Society) and, on the older 2013 law, ONA (Orientation on the Dutch Labour Market).

  Who is inburgerencoach for?

  Adults preparing for any part of the inburgering pathway — the A1 Basisexamen abroad, the A2 inburgeringsexamen on the 2013 law, or the B1 Staatsexamen NT2 Programma I on the 2021 law. Most of our learners are working full time, often parents, often studying on a phone in 10-minute bursts. The lessons are written for tired adults, not for children.

  How long does it take to prepare?

  Most learners need three to six months at twenty minutes a day, depending on your starting level, your route (A2 or B1), and your exam date. The legal deadline under the 2021 law is three years from the start of your inburgeringsplicht, with extensions possible. We set a daily pace that fits the time you have.

  Is the content aligned to the real exam?

  Yes. The curriculum maps to the official inburgering exam tasks: the A1 Basisexamen abroad, the A2 inburgeringsexamen, plus KNM and ONA on the 2013 law. We use exam-style items, written in Dutch and explained in your language, so practice matches what DUO asks of you.

  How is this different from Duolingo or Anki?

  Both are good at what they do — but neither is built for this exam. Duolingo teaches general Dutch: bakery scenes, owl streaks, the wrong vocabulary for inburgering. Three months in you can order coffee, and still cannot read a letter from your gemeente. Anki has the best review engine ever built, and the steepest interface most adults will ever face — community decks look like a server console, and most people stop opening it within a week. We took the parts that work and left the parts that hurt: same spaced-repetition science as Anki, built into hand-written lessons; native-Dutch audio on every card and example; decks written for what the exam actually asks (the doctor, the gemeente, the workplace, KNM and ONA).   How do you compare to inburgerenonline.nl?

  No, and we never will. The exam result depends on your study time, your starting level, and decisions made by DUO and the IND. We give you a structured plan, real exam-style practice, and honest feedback on where you stand — not a promise. inburgerencoach is not affiliated with DUO, the IND, or any Dutch government body.

  Is it free? Is there a trial?

  Yes — a 7-day free trial of the full product, with no card asked at sign-up. You get every track, every module, AI-graded writing with inline feedback, and review that brings back the words you missed. After the trial, it is €29 a month, or €119 once for a full six-month preparation window before your exam.

  How do I cancel? Can I get a refund?

  Billing is not live yet. You will not be charged. When it opens, we will publish how to cancel and how refunds work before we ask anyone to pay.

  Can I get a free seat or a discount?

  We reserve a limited number of free seats and discount vouchers each month, for asylum-status holders, refugees, jobseekers via UWV or the gemeente, and people on minimum income. Apply through our contact form with one or two sentences about your situation. We read every message. We cannot help everyone, but we read everyone.

  Which languages and devices does it work on?

  The interface is available in English, Dutch, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian, with right-to-left support for Arabic and Persian. Lessons run in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or laptop. No app store, no install — open the website and continue where you left off.

  What about privacy and my data?

  Your account, progress, and writing submissions are stored in the EU. Voice recordings stay on your device. You can export or delete your data any time from settings. Details in the privacy policy.
